Happy Holidays!!

It's time for the holidays to come alive! The shopping is finished (not really but we can pretend) and the decorations are up. In my neck of the woods there is snow on the ground and the temps have dropped well below zero!

Christmas is 4 days away! Are you ready?! I'm not!

Yet, I am already thinking about New Years Eve and the sparkly fantasticness (yes, I made that word up) that goes along with it.

Shiny things are fun! With that in mind I offer you my newest creations! Pictured above is one of my favorites. Although it's not shiny it screams, FUN! I have hand formed a Gorgonzola Stuffed Green Olive from polymer clay and hung it on a copper chain. Love it!

I have also been tinkering with crystals. Who doesn't want to wear crystals on New Years? They are my alternative to sequins!

Here I have to fabulous Swarovski Pear Briolette Crystals wire wrapped on hand formed and hammered copper ear wires. So lovely...and Sparkly!

Below is my Black and Copper Crystal Ring Necklace which has been made using a black stone ring and a Jet Black Swarovski Briolette Crystal. Very unique! You can take the ring off the necklace and wear it on your finger!! It's multi-functional! Gotta love it!

There are many other fun things in my shop just waiting for good homes and fantastic party's!! FREE SHIPPING!

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Featured Etsian....ThreadRare

This weeks featured seller dabbles in accessories and does an amazing job!

ThreadRare features hand made, beautiful head bands with vintage accents and luxurious fabrics.

Jill, the maker of these wonderful pieces was kind enough to let me into her creative world. She started designing the flower patterns in the spring and summer of 2009 and came up with her first headband in October of this year! Amazing!

When I asked her about where her inspiration stems from she had this to say. "My degree is in textile and apparel design, and I remembered an exercise we did in one of my design classes that I really enjoyed. We all had to create our own flower out of any material we wanted. Mine was actually beaded wire (I still have it!), but there were so many interesting flowers made from fabrics: some three-dimensional, some flat. I'm not sure what triggered me as that class was years ago, but one day last spring I decided to try to make my own fabric flower. It ended up being an early version of the lily I now carry in my shop."

What did the very first headband look like? It was made for her friend to wear to a wedding and it was a reverse of this Silver and Gold Lily that she sells in her shop! Beautiful!

Once she discovered Etsy she was hooked! It was a new adventure that has gotten her a spot on the frontpage which got her a ton of exposure. How did she do it? Well it all started with the "rules" of Etsy. She scoured the sellers handbooks and forums to see how selling worked. This gave her a realistic approach to selling on Etsy that allowed her to keep her expectations in check. She has been able to grow slowly and is blossoming into a well-known Etsy seller!

Being a newbie to Etsy myself I was curious to know if she had any advice. She responded, "Etsy is such a great community with so, so many resources available. Take advantage of the forums, articles, and various interviews, there's good advice out there! My best advice is to do your research into the selling process, meet as many other sellers as you can (through forums and twitter), and don't be afraid to put your toe in the water and start selling! I started with three items, then grew to six, and now nine, and I will continue to add new pieces as I design them. Grow at your own pace, and keep your focus on quality and staying true to your style and unique point of view. And always have great photos, they are your best tool for selling online! One last thing; the sellers I have met so far have all been wonderful. They are excited to help each other and out see each other succeed. The encouragement I've received from the other Etsy sellers I've talked to has been priceless. Reach out to others and be kind, the support is well worth it."

Does she have a favorite headband?
Her favorite of her headbands is the Ruby Red Lily Headband. "I just really love the color and sparkle!" Me too!

I also really like the Empire Art Deco headband pictured at the top of this page.

I only hope to have the kind of success that ThreadRare has had this past month or so. Her work is beautiful and her heart is in the right place! She is talented and kind. Please take a moment to visit her shop and please feel free to leave her comments her on my blog.

Featured Etsian....Elisas Fairies

If you haven't seen these adorable dragons yet then you are missing out! I absolutely love the character that each one of these sculptures takes on. After getting the opportunity to ask her a few questions about her dragons I have a new appreciation for what she does.

Robyn, the creator of Elisas Fairies has enjoyed "fantasy art" for many years. This past October she started making Dragons and is on a roll! Her very first dragon was Cassanova the Crystal Ball Dragon and he is adorable (pictured to the left).

Her inspiration for each dragon comes from her 11 year old daughter, Elisa. Each dragon truly comes from the heart as the mother and daughter team curl up on the sofa together to iron out all the details. Each one of her sculptures comes with their own little story...those all come from Elisa.

So how much time does it take to make these sculptures? Well it takes a minimum of 5 hours! That's right folks, this is no small task! Robyn carefully and meticulously blends the polymer clay (she has been known to blend up to 5 different colors for one dragon), then she individually makes each body part including the eyes, chest plate, nostrils, eyebrows, fingers, stomach/back plates and horns! She then bakes, glazes and adds wings. It's a lot of work to make these special dragons and her patients and attention to detail shines in each piece. The longest it has taken her to complete a sculpture was 7 hours.

Currently, she has 5 items for sale in her Etsy shop. Love what you see but want something custom? She would be more than happy to work with you to create something you'll love!

I have to tell you my favorite of her dragons is
Hudson the Hug Dragon, he can be found on her blog! He is so cuddly and cute I just want to squeeze him! Robyn has her favorites too. When I asked her about a fav she responded..."There's a 3 way tie for the favorite dragon spot...lol. Hudson the Hug Dragon, Kelsy the Kiss Dragon and my newest Kahuna the Beach Bum Dragon are my favorites. There is just a quality about them...I'm especially proud of them." Who wouldn't be they are all fantastic!!

Kelsey the Kiss Dragon was recently awarded the Moderator's Choice spot on Elfwood.com (a fantasy are website).

WOO HOO! She's such a pretty dragon!

Make sure you check out her Etsy page and visit her blog for more about Elisas Fairies.

Pediatric Stroke Awareness Jewelry

Did you know that babies and children have strokes?
About 1 in 4,000 deliveries ends in the baby having a stroke. It's a relatively high number for something that is not often talked about. I didn't realize that it could happen either until it happened to my son.

He was born 2 1/2 years ago and had a stroke during the delivery. It was a horrible experience but one that has changed my life forever, in a good way. He is the light of my life (along with his new baby sisiter!).

About a year ago I started designing jewelry to help raise awareness for Pediatric Stroke. Since that time I have evolved a bit into a more sophisticated look and am proud to show you the first of this holiday season necklace and bracelet set.

These items can be purchased on my Etsy page and 10% of my sales from them will be donated to the Pediatric Stroke Network. You can find out more about the PSN by visiting their website here... http://pediatricstrokenetwork.com

PSN is dedicated to helping the families and friends of those who have had to go through this difficult journey. I am proud to offer this jewelry to you and to help PSN.

Please show your support. Visit my shop today. http://bailybellecreations.etsy.com

Do you know someone who has a child who has had a stroke? Maybe your son or daughter has had a stroke. I would be more than happy to customize these pieces for you and to work within your budget to do so. Contact me through my Etsy shop for more information.

Thanks so much. Your help in raising awareness is greatly appreciated.
