good times with food

Yesterday was a great day. It started with meeting a fairly new friend for coffee in the morning and ended with sushi and martini's! Most of you know that I am not a huge fan of chocolate. I have however, been dying to try a place here in town called, Obsession Chocolates. They specialize in chocolate but also have a menu of fantastic food!

I arrived a little early and ordered a small White Chocolate Mocha. So yummy!

I also ordered their Spanish Omelet (didn't get a picture), which was also very good. I will be going back again to try their lunch menu!

Later on I met with my parents to do a little shopping. We ended our adventure at Fuji Sushi & Steakhouse, as seen in Volume One Magazine. I've eaten there before but had never tried their sushi. Of course, I had to have a Cucumber martini (or 2)! We ordered Calamari, Edamame, and the Philly Roll!

Simply delicious! The Philly roll is filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado. I am not one to eat completely raw fish so this is a wonderful choice for me!

Hope you enjoyed my little food adventure.
Feel free to share your favorite types of Sushi, maybe I'll try it the next time I go out!

lace eggs

I love dying Easter eggs and am always looking for new and fun techniques to try. Recently, I watched Angela from D.I.Y Studio & Gifts on the Good Day WI morning show. She was using lace to create pattern and texture on her eggs!! I knew I had to try it out.

Here is the video.

Fabulous, right?! So, here is what I did. It's slightly different from her technique but still created a beautiful egg. Feel free to try this out for yourself!

Step one: Cut a piece of lace large enough to wrap around an egg.

Step two: Bring lace together and pull it tight around the egg. I used a small rubber band to hold it.

Step three: Let egg soak in dye. For this egg I first did pink and then blue.

Step four: Remove egg from dye and let it dry off.

Step five: Remove lace and reveal your fabulous and fancy egg!!

Happy Easter everyone! Let me know if you try this out. I would love to see how your eggs turn out!

spring adventures, part 1 - sand

My husband and I recently took the kids out shopping to restock the sand in their outdoor sand table. While we knew we were going to pick up at least one bag of your typical white play sand, what we didn't know is that we would stumble upon PINK & BLUE sand! Oh, I was so excited! More so than the kids I think! After giving Noah the option of color he chose the pink! I squealed grabbed the sand and off we went.

As we turned our attention to the potted flowers and adorable lawn ornaments, my head was already busy plotting and planning. I couldn't stop thinking about how fantastic the pink sand is.  Up and down the flower aisles we went pointing and oohing at everything. Ha, you'd think we had never seen flowers before. As I was drooling over the pretty Pansies, it hit me. I want a flower garden with pink sand as a top soil, inspired by Alice in Wonderland with a tea party feel to it!

When we got home we filled the sand table with the pink sand and let the kids go at it. Of course, my husband and I had to get our hands in it too! It's so much fun!

I'm also searching for fun solar lighting ideas since this old house doesn't have any outdoor outlets. I found these fun Mason Jars by TreasureAgain on Etsy and would love to have a few of these hanging around outside.

So, while I'm here cheme about my perfect outdoor sanctuary I hope you are all having a wonderful spring! Stay tuned for more!

FP fuss

You may be hearing a lot about the new Etsy front page. It's changing and many Etsians are in a tizzy about the new look. After hearing that most of my pals were seeing the new page I had to check it out for myself. I clicked over to my Etsy saved tab and found that nothing looked different. "Ugh, why me?" I thought.

After whining a bit I finally stumbled upon the Etsy blog post explaining why and how to see the new page. For those of you who are still fumbling through trying to figure it out here you go....

A New Homepage for New Visitors

Sample 1 of my FP

Once I completed this step and had new taste test results I saved them and was able to check out what all the fuss is about. I have to say, and I know some of my friends are going to want to punch me for this, but, I LIKE IT!

First, let me say that I completely understand the sadness felt by many of us hardworking treasury makers. We are now forced to scroll down a bit to see our treasuries but in all honesty I'm ok with that. Why? Well several reasons.

1. Instead of now seeing the same items over and over again I am seeing new things and people!
2. If I don't like what I see, I simply hit the little blue arrow and get new items!
3. We have a higher chance of getting our items seen by new customers, the treasuries are still visible!
 4. I like change! (this may be a key factor here)
5. If I take a step out of my seller shoes for a minute, I realize that as a customer it's much more appealing. I'm more likely to stay and browse around! Meaning, we sellers may in fact get more exposure!

Sample 2 of my FP

So before we all go complaining to Etsy about how it sucks let's give it some time. Play around with it a bit and you may discover it's not so bad!

Love and Hugs

pleasant surprises

Spring is in my heart and apparently my mail box! I received some fabulous items last week and you have to see them! Have you ever heard of Sis Boom? Well, if you are a fabric lover you probably have and if you haven't well I have a surprise for you!

Jennifer Paganelli is the designer of beautiful fabrics and she is such a sweetheart. I highly recommend her and her fabrics if you are looking to do some crafting. She uses fantastic bright color combinations that would make anyone smile. Her fabrics are so soft and really easy to work with.

These sweet colors landed here at BailyBelle and I can't stop drooling!
Don't worry I am wearing a bib! :P

But quick, before you look maybe you should put one on too!

I mean seriously though, are you kidding? How can you not drool?!
Here's what I've made so far. Don't worry there is more to come!

I am so in love with her designs and colors. Make sure you check out her website for more information on what she does! http://www.sisboom.com/
Thank you Jennifer!

Stay tuned to bailybelle as I roll some of these products into the shop!
